Press release -
Petplan launches innovative Cover Certainty tool for veterinary practices
Petplan, the UK’s No.1 pet insurer, has unveiled a new digital tool that allows veterinary teams to get Cover Certainty for their clients; quickly confirming their client's insurance details, allowing them to make informed treatment decisions without delay.
This new digital solution, accessible through Petplan's veterinary portal, petplanvet.co.uk, allows veterinary teams to instantly check their client's insurance policy. By simply submitting a Cover Certainty request the digital process provides real-time confirmation to the vet and the customer if the condition will be covered. It also provides information such as how much cover for vet fees is remaining on the policy and what the customers excess is, which saves the customer or vet needing to call Petplan to check this information themselves.
43% of all the calls to Petplan’s dedicated Vetline are from practices checking their client’s cover status. By offering Cover Certainty, Petplan aims to improve the experience for both customers and vets by saving time and allowing treatment decisions to be made sooner resulting in faster care for pets.
What’s more, the Cover Certainty tool is available 24/7, providing crucial support during emergency situations, including out-of-hours care on evenings or weekends, ensuring pet owners can make timely treatment decisions.
Jo Maclennan, Director of Trading at Petplan, commented: "The introduction of Cover Certainty creates a speedier, simplified process that gives vets and customers the insurance information they need to make treatment decisions with confidence. Petplan pay 98% of all the claims we receive but we recognise the financial uncertainty customers sometimes feel when they are needing to make treatment decisions for their pet. This new tool brings certainty earlier in the process giving customers and vets confirmation that financial support is available for that condition. Initial pilots within practice have suggested providing Cover Certainty before treatment is a huge help to the veterinary team”
