MY.GAMES Launches Global Mental Health Survey in Partnership with Leading U.S. Video Game Nonprofits, Take This and IGDA, and the Fair Play Alliance

17 November - Global gaming brand MY.GAMES has today launched an international survey asking gamers about their mental health and experiences with cyberbullying. Backed by the IGDA and in partnership with the nonprofit Take This and the global coalition of gaming professionals and companiesFair Play Alliance (FPA), the survey will look at how gamers feel their mental health has been impacted by the events of 2020. The survey will also delve into social interactions in gaming and their effects on players.

“Now more than ever, mental health awareness has become an important issue,” commented Vasily Maguryan, CEO of MY.GAMES. “We take the health of our gamers

seriously and this survey will give us vital feedback on how our global community is coping during this tumultuous year.”

“Never have the challenges of game players, game developers and the gaming community seemed so complex and overwhelming,” said Eve Crevoshay, Executive Director at Take This. “There has been a groundswell of support from the games industry and we believe that efforts like the survey being launched by MY.GAMES are crucial to determining how the industry needs to continue responding to supporting the mental health of its community.”

The FPA supports game developers and platforms through the development and sharing of best practices to help reduce abuse and discrimination, and fostering awesome player interactions through design. In a statement, the FPA shared, “Healthy gameplay starts with healthy players. Our goal is to help create fair play and healthy gaming communities online. Part of that work includes understanding players’ mental health and how it relates to online gaming experiences and events in the world, such as the pandemic.”

“Our global network has been championing for better support for those in the games community with mental health challenges and to decrease the toxic behaviors we see online. Alongside MY.GAMES, Take This and Fair Play Alliance, we are working to address these issues and be a driving force for change through better understanding of the issues facing the games community. We can’t do that without your help. Please consider taking five minutes to fill out this mental health and cyberbullying survey,” said Renee Gittins, Executive Director.

You can take the survey by heading to SurveyGizmo. It will be available from now until November 22. Your opinion is vital and your mental health matters, so please help by participating in this important survey.
