MY.GAMES announces Hyper-Casual Jam
Best teams could receive $2,000 cash and a developer contract worth up to $50,000
10 June 2020 - International gaming company MY.GAMES has opened applications for its first game jam, the MY.GAMES Hyper-Casual Jam, with no limit on the number of potential partners. In case the games achieve a Click Through Rate (CTR) of at least 5% the best developer teams may receive $2,000 in prize money and a contract with MY.GAMES, worth up to $50,000. All games entered in the jam must be run through marketing tests by the MY.GAMES Hyper-Casual publishing team.
The jam will take place on June 26-28 and applications are open until June 25. Teams interested in taking part can apply on the jam website with their team name, title for their game, and contact information.
Over the weekend of the jam, teams will be challenged to create a brand-new hyper-casual mobile game. At the end of the weekend, developers will need to submit three 15-30-second videos of their demo. Results will be announced by July 31 on the jam website.
All applications will also be judged by the MY.GAMES team under the following categories, with the best games announced on the Jam website:
- Best Mix Of Ideas
- Best Original Gameplay
- Best Original Art
“Mobile games are at the heart of what we do at MY.GAMES, and drive over half of our revenue worldwide,” said Andrei Dubinin, head of the MY.GAMES Hyper-Casual Division. “We want to share our experience, expertise and resources with this next generation of mobile game developers, who are focused on hyper-casual games. Through our Jam, we hope we can help those teams to turn their ideas into hit global games.”
The Hyper-Casual Division of MY.GAMES was launched in April this year focused on finding and publishing hyper-casual, hybrid-casual and idle games, with up to $10 million set aside for development and marketing costs up until the end of 2020. Developers in the programme are treated as partners, retaining control over the development process and key decisions. For projects started in 2020, net profit is split up to 60/40 after global launch in favour of the developer. MY.GAMES provides the developer with support throughout the process, including market testing with real users, as well as consultation on product, market trends, user acquisition, and maximizing advertising monetisation.
MY.GAMES has more than 13 years’ experience developing and publishing games, with some of the most successful, revenue generating titles on mobile. MY.GAMES currently publishes global hit mobile titles such as Hustle Castle, War Robots, Left to Survive and more, with approximately half a billion total installs from around the world. MY.GAMES has its own investment arm and a team of development, marketing and business specialists who can support potential partners.
Game Jam entrants will also be able to take part in an exclusive Welcome Party with the MY.GAMES team on 25 June. More information will be shared with entrants closer to the time.
