Road accidents kill 1,700 unborn babies - every year

The risk of being killed in a car accident is four times higher when in the mother’s womb than during the first four years of life, according to new research from the U.S.

- This is an issue that has relatively little media attention and therefore, few people know what they can do to give the unborn child the greatest possible safety in cars. says Paul Sirett,Country Manager BeSafe.

The single most important factor is to use the car’s seat belt, and that it is used correctly.

Located incorrectly over the stomach.
Belt should be properly placed at the hip when traveling in a car, however the seat belt can ride up in Pregnancy particularly.

 - Placental abruption, the separation of the placenta from the baby, is the leading cause of death in unborn children and can be induced by an accident.
It can also happen through the compression between the mother’s body and the seat belt.
- With BeSafe pregnant belts the vehicle seat belt is positioned correctly so that the force is distributed more evenly across the body, away from the stomach.
Furthermore, the mother cannot slip down under your vehicle belt and slid forward in the event of a frontal collision.
