Press release -
Federer pays 14 times the money to win French Open, as Djokovic goes on a record hunt in Paris
To get 14 times the money on Roger Federer to win a Grand Slam tournament would have been something of a fairy-tale a couple of years ago, but BetClic are offering these odds for him to win this year’s French Open.
Dan Vikman, PR Manager at BetClic, says:
- For once, Rafael Nadal will have a real challenger in French Open that is not Roger Federer but Novak Djokovic. Djokovic had an amazing start to the year and his unbeaten record now stands at 37. Djokovic has just been unstoppable and has won seven straight tournaments.
The interesting thing is that Djokovic has beaten Nadal twice on clay so far in recent weeks and that tells you something since Nadal has dominated the clay events having won 193 of his last 201 matches on the surface since 2005. And in Paris in particular he has always been the player to beat having five titles under his belt with a 38-1 record, with Robin Soderling being the only player to have beaten him so far, in the fourth round two years ago.
But as we stand now, Djokovic is the player to beat as he marches towards John McEnroe´s record start to the 1984 season with 42-0.
- The major change for Djokovic is that he has finally broken the psychological barrier facing Nadal and Roger Federer. Djokovic had always struggled against Nadal and Federer but it is a very different story this year. Djokovic has an impressive record of 7-0 in matches against them, having dropped just three sets in total. Just amazing.
Djokovic is priced at 2.60 to win French Open while Nadal pays 2.10 at BetClic.
Among the outsiders Andy Murray pays 20 times the money while twice runner-up Robin Soderling is priced at 50.00.
