Government Broadband Report support for Satellite welcomed by BeyonDSL
The BIS Report “Britain’s Superfast Broadband Future” highlights the use of satellite to deliver broadband for the UK and this inclusion is welcomed by BeyonDSL, the specialist satellite ISP.
The report says “A mix of technologies - [ including] satellite – will be needed to deliver superfast broadband throughout the UK.”. It continues “This vision of world class connectivity embraces a wide range of technology solutions. We believe that fixed, fixed-wireless, mobile and satellite communications networks will all have a part to play in delivering this vision if we are to bring the benefits of broadband to as many people as possible.”
BeyonDSL welcomes the inclusion of satellite as part of the government’s vision of world-class connectivity. “As one of the UK’s specialist satellite ISPs, we can only agree with the report;” comments Michael Locke, Managing Director of BeyonDSL. He continues “We have been supplying satellite broadband to remote and not-so-remote locations for years. Our customers know that satellite is a viable option for them and it’s great to see that reflected in the report.”
Satellite has unbeatable advantages in achieving universal coverage at a reasonable cost. In fact, since our service already offers up to 4Mbps to anywhere in the UK, the Universal Service Commitment target of 2Mbps (the basic minimum level of “acceptable” service) could be said to have been reached today.
The key detail section (3.13) expands on this further and says ”Another technology that can be used to deliver broadband services is satellite.” “Satellite is a viable option for the most remote users and for those in some other not-spots. It will need to be part of any solution aiming at universal coverage.”
We are proud to have been one of the first satellite ISPs providing such universal coverage in the UK and, thanks to the latest generation service from ASTRA, ASTRA2Connect, at an affordable price with delivery before Christmas.
The self-install satellite dish and satmodem costs only £299.99 inc VAT and there are a range of service subscriptions from £18.99 per month. The current Winter Sale offers delivery before Christmas and up to 4Mbps at only £24.99 for orders placed before the end of 2010. Prices include VAT at 17.5% so customers can save even more by buying a yearly subscription before the VAT rate changes in January 2011.
