How to distinguish the Original from Generic iPhone LCD Screen?

How to distinguish the Original from Generic iPhone LCD Screen?

iPhone 5g 5s 5c and SE

1. The Original is not as thick as the generic as it does not use a separate digitiser (on an original screen the touchscreen digitiser is integrated in the display) as well if looking from the right angle the digitiser is visible on generic screens - depending on the manufacturer you might see vertical and horizontal lines of the touch matrix or diamond shape dots, as well some of the digitisers has a blueish shade if compared to the original which is usually black or grey the lcd seems dark blue.
2. From the backside of the lcd (it would be best if you would have a few screens to compare) if you would look closely the pattern of contacts on the ribbon is different on generic screens than the original ones (as well the ribbon flex it self is usually worse quality - stiff)

iPhone 6g and 6 plus

iPhone 6g and 6 plus is the easiest to see as the original lcds has apple logo on the ribbon flex sometimes you need to look close as they might be covered with a marker or some substance due to postage safety. On really rare occasions we come across 6g and 6 plus that has a replaced ribbon flex which would be without the logo and an original lcd - the top can distinguish are they original by the same factors as 5 series.

iPhone 7g and 7 plus

Iphone 6s and 6s plus, also iPhone 7g and 7 plus as well has an apple logo on the flex but it’s under the part that is bent and covered with a sticker which is sticks it to the plate, So the easiest way to tell them apart is to look at the ribbon flex structure as the copy ribbons has a totally different layout than original ones and you can pretty much instantly see it.

iPhone X XS and XS max

From the obverse side, the inside LCD of OEM screen shows a black tone, while the aftermarket LCD looks a little green and the aftermarket OLED screen looks a little red. There is no color and structure difference in other areas. The aftermarket OLED screen flex cable is harder than OEM, besides they are almost the same. For the aftermarket LCD screen, the frame is thicker than the OEM screen and doesn’t have 4 connector contacts on the bottom of the frame which may have an impact on the signal. Because the 2 middle contacts are connected to the charging port signal retaining bracket.
The aftermarket screen looks thicker than the OEM which will have an impact on the appearance after installation. The device with an aftermarket screenis about 0.3mm thicker on the top and 0.4-0.5mm on the bottom than the device with OEM screen.

The Difference between Aftermarket Soft and Hard OLED Screen

The difference is that Soft OLED can be bent, hard OLED Can't be bent. Full Original iPhone X Screen is made of soft OLED. So Aftermarket soft OLED is good choice for repair.

Soft OLED screens are built around a flexible substrate, like the iPhone X’s original screen. Because the manufacturing process doesn’t substitute this key component, the soft OLED is a step ahead of the hard OLED in mimicking original screen performance. Its display size matches the dimensions of the OEM screen, and the flexible substrate gives the soft OLED a leg up in hardiness, allowing it to absorb more impacts without malfunctioning or breaking.
