Why LCD Refurbishing?
If you’re aware - cracked glass, but fully functioning LCD and OLED phone, tablet screens can be refurbished and reused.
So, if you have cracked, but working screens left after repairs why throw them away, if you can get them refurbished and reuse for another repair or resell?
Let’s say you replace a cracked screen and have one left over, by refurbishing the one that’s left makes the profit margin of the second repair becomes much higher, as if you used the refurbished screen for the second repair the part cost is only the price of the LCD Refurbishing service and not the full part which works out even cheaper than the aftermarket screen.
Also using refurbished screens has quite a few advantages over aftermarket replacement screens.
Since the LCD or OLED display stays original and only the glass and frame is replaced, the quality of the display stays the same, it may only differ a bit in lightning, but overall quality of the picture the speed of switching between panels and sensitivity is much higher quality than the aftermarket screen and has lesser return rate. So, if keeping all of this in mind even if refurbishing the screen is a bit more expensive, overall it works out much more profitable.
Basically, it’s quite simple really. Better quality and less returns means happier customers and the happier they are the more business you get.
Plus, as a bonus if you’re using refurbished screens or selling them to recycling companies you’re helping the nature as well, as instead of going to waste and landfill the screens are being reused.
What is LCD Refurbishing?
It’s the operation of replacing the glass of cracked but working LCD, AMOLED or OLED Screen of a Phone or a Tablet. Almost all broken working screens can be refurbished and returned to as new state and reused again. But Since it’s Quite a complicated process which consists of different operations and quite a few Machines and different moulds which for some models are custom made, the main refurbishable screens are IPhone, IPad and Samsung.
Weather it’s Samsung Galaxy, IPhone or IPad Screen Refurbishment, the process mostly consists of the same steps, but widely differs in machines, moulds, materials, settings and many more small details which cannot be overlooked as the end result depends on it.
The Usual LCD, OLED or AMOLED Screen Refurbishing Steps are:
> Testing the screen if it can be refurbished. There are many issues which can be solved during the refurbishing process by replacing the damaged parts of the screen. Some issues unfortunately cannot be solved. Like for example Samsung AMOLED Burnout marks sometimes named as shadows on screen they are usually pink or greyish and visible on different colour background. For Example, the burn out marks might be seen on white but not on red background or on red but not on green background so this is one of the priority checks for Samsung screens. The burn out marks on Samsung and other led screens appears from keeping the screen on one particular image for a longer period of time, that’s why mostly burn outs consists of keyboard, top line or icons when the screen is left on for too long. Sharp impact spots to the screen which are usually referred to as bullet marks as well can’t be removed. Samsung Galaxy and iPhone Screens up to iphone X has an integrated touchscreen matrix together with the display there for any touchscreen issues would fail the initial test. On some screens, the touchscreen can be replaced, but that increases the cost of the refurbishing process as some parts are quite expensive and the process damage rate becomes much higher. Although most of the backlight issues for screens with backlight like iphone 7 or ipad air 2 can be solved with replacing the backlight part, some of them due to complexity of the operation and the part price become just beyond economical repair as the price of the process would exceed the value of the screen itself. During the LCD Refurbishing process screens are tested many times to check if they didn’t get damaged in any operation.
> After the initial Screen test is passed, the frame surrounding the LCD, OLED or AMOLED screen is removed usually using heat and pulling it away to prepare the screen for glass separation.
> The Broken glass is separated from the display, by cutting the optically clear adhesive in between the screen and the glass and removing the glass, Some of the inner layers or other parts are removed as well if they are damaged
> After all the damaged parts have been removed the screen is cleaned carefully to remove all the residue of left over adhesive and prepared for the new parts to be applied.
> New Glass, Frame and any other parts in need of replacement are adhered and attached back to the screen using Special Press Machines and other Equipment
> After all the parts have been replaced the screens undergoes a quality check and if thet pass The screens are cleaned, new screen and back protectors are applied and They are packed safely.
