Billhop raises 18 million - aims towards large companies

On the 11th of March, DI Digital wrote:

Payment company ‘Billhop’ raises 18 million kronor in new capital, and at the same time, launches a payment solution which means that even large companies can pay invoices with a credit card, instead of selling their invoices to factoring companies.

“We feel that we have found our niche. We are growing our organisation and are ready for an international expansion”, explains Sebastian Andreescu, CEO at Billhop.

Almi Invest is once again among the many investors in Billhop, along with a number of private investors, such as Per-Otto Hyland, son of Lennart Hyland and former Head of Nordic Operations for banking giant Credit Suisse.

Billhop has developed a way in which companies can pay their invoices using their existing credit cards. For companies with strained liquidity, this may be a cheaper method compared with selling invoices to a factoring company. So far, the focus has been on small and medium-sized companies, but it wont be long before Billhop also launches a solution for larger companies.

"For larger companies, the gain derives from the fact that it is often a long process to get suppliers into the systems. There is a tail of smaller purchases, like a conference, where the ability to pay bills without having to enter them into the systems would make things simpler", Roozbeh Charli, operations manager at Billhop.

To create a solution for larger companies, Billhop has entered into a partnership with American Express.
