BOTTLE Calls For Journalists and Blogger Input to Groundbreaking Research

BOTTLE PR has teamed up with news exchange site MyNewsDesk on a joint research project to uncover opinions on the future of the communications industry from those who work within it. The survey is the most extensive of its kind carried out in the UK.

The PR agency is now asking those employed in the communications and media industries to take part in the survey.

Paul Sutton, head of social communications at BOTTLE PR said: "We are carrying out this research to provide genuine insight into the future of the communications industry and how our working processes are adapting to meet the evolving demands of the social web. Some think that professional journalism is on its last legs. Some think that PR consultants are a dying breed. Some think the news industry as a whole is being taken over by citizen journalism on Twitter, Facebook and blogs. We want to gauge opinion and identify if and where differences in opinion lie, and why."

Sutton continues:  "There have been huge changes over the past decade into how news is read, written and developed. Stories now break on Twitter before credible news agencies, hours before in many cases. The current Ryan Giggs furore is a prime example of the power and importance of social channels. We want to determine to just what extent the 'news' industry as a whole is being taken over by this new environment, and to establish how journalists and PRs alike can stay in line with this trend."

The survey, which takes between 5-10 minutes to complete, can be completed until June 10th by accessing the following: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Futureofcommunicationssurvey.

Results of the report will be published in June. All those taking part will automatically receive a copy of the report.
