Bringing affordable housing to Bury

Press release -

Bringing affordable housing to Bury

Housing providers are being encouraged to join a new partnership and continue bringing affordable housing to the borough.

Since 2009, the council has been working with Six Town Housing, Great Places Housing Group, St Vincent’s Housing Association and ‘Johnnie’ Johnson Housing Trust. This has secured more than £5 million of external funding, providing more than 250 new affordable homes: from general needs apartments at Bridge Hall Drive (St Vincent’s), mixed tenure housing on Greenbrook Street (Great Places) and the extra care scheme at Red Bank (Six Town).

A new Housing Joint Commissioning Partnership is being set up to continue this work, helping the council to meet its strategic housing objectives and help to address the housing needs of local residents.

Registered providers are now being invited to submit applications to join the new partnership.

Housing associations should apply via The Chest at www.bury.gov.uk/contractingopportunities from Monday 15 April, and completed applications must be returned by 4pm on Friday 10 May.

For more information, call Caroline Abbott on 0161 253 6796 or email strategichousing@bury.gov.uk
