Bury Council seeks operator for artisan markets.

Press release -

Bury Council seeks operator for artisan markets.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to operate the Borough-wide Artisan Markets in Bury.

Due to the huge success of the Farmers Market in Ramsbottom, Bury Council are looking for an organiser to roll-out Artisan Markets, a mix of quality local food and crafts, to build on the already successful market’s offer in the borough.

Bury Council currently operates three market sites within the Borough of Bury, with the largest being the award-winning Bury Market,  which hosts over 370 stalls every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

Bury Market is recognised as one of the best in the country and has a number of plaudits to its name including Most Coach Friendly Shopping Attraction 2011, Radio 4’s Best Food Market 2008, and NABMA’s Market Attraction of the Year 2006, 2009 & 2012.

The council is now seeking an operator, which can emulate these high standards, to manage Artisan Markets in the towns of Ramsbottom, Whitefield, Prestwich and Radcliffe starting from April 2013. Covering 22 Markets in total, the offer of these markets compliments the existing offer of our townships creating a real buzz and shopping experience.

We are interested in hearing from local community-based organisations that may be able to work in collaboration with the council and our partners to successfully deliver our markets.

To apply for tender go to Bury Council current opportunities on The Chest www.the-chest.org or contact r.shedwick@bury.gov.uk for more information. Deadline is 8 March 2013.
