Bury flies the flag for St George

The flag of England’s patron saint takes pride of place outside the new Union Square opposite Bury Town Hall.

The Mayor of Bury, Councillor Joan Grimshaw, hoisted the St George’s cross this morning (Tuesday 23 April), accompanied by invited guests.

The flagpoles outside Knowsley Place are used to host flags from countries on their national days, while the Union flag flies permanently outside the town hall.
