Concerts for everyone at Longfield Suite

Heavy rock, classical, folk and indie gigs await visitors to the Longfield Suite in Prestwich.

* Saturday 1 March: Dressed to Kill.

Formed in 1990, Dressed to Kill are the world’s longest-running tribute to Kiss, playing across the UK, Europe and Japan. They have appeared in Channel 4/RDF media 'Gene Simmons: Rock School', and 'Gene Simmons family Jewels' at the personal request of Gene Simmons. The band have also been featured on music and current affairs programmes on MTV, BBC, NHK, and Channel 5.

* Saturday 16th March 2013: Sounds of Simon.

This tribute to Simon and Garfunkel features songs from across the duo’s career, and draws extensively from Paul Simon’s solo catalogue.

* Friday 29 March: V-Prest Festival - including The Smiths Ltd.

On Good Friday 2011, some 45 bands played V-Prest across three venues - Longfield Live, Riley’s and The Railway and Naturalist – and raised nearly £3,000 for Bury Hospice. In 2012, the festival returned and raised £3,500. This year, organisers are hoping to do even better – and they’d like bands and volunteers to get in touch. See contact details below.

* Friday 26th April - Manchester Camerata

Acknowledged around the world as one the UK’s leading chamber orchestras, Manchester Camerata are resident at the Bridgewater Hall and Royal Northern College of Music.

With director/violin soloist Adi Brett, they will play a programme including Grieg’s Holberg Suite [Op. 40], Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 2 in D major [K. 211], Elgar’s Serenade for Strings [Op. 20] and Mozart’s Symphony No. 29 in A major [K. 201].
