Ever thought about adoption? Come to the Open Day

Children aged 12 months and upwards need loving permanent homes – can you help to give them one?

All the information you need about adopting a child will be provided at an Open Day on Saturday 1 June.

The council’s teams will have details of the latestfast-track adoption services, and places are available on the July, September and November adoption preparation groups.

The open day is at Bury Adoption Service, Higher Lane Centre, Higher Lane, Whitefield. Feel free to drop in any time from 10am to 4pm; there’s no need to book.

Jean MacKenzie, adoption manager at Bury Council, said: “We particularly need adopters for single children aged 3 and under, and also sibling groups of up to 3.

“There are lots of myths around who can adopt children, such as you cannot be single or gay, which we hope to dispel at this open day.

“It doesn’t matter if you live inside or outside Bury; we would welcome the chance to meet you and talk about the children. We look forward to seeing you on 1 June.”
