Fruity Friday – Love Your Local Market

Catering students from Bury College cooked up a storm in support of Love Your Local Market.

On “Fruity Friday”, they joined Public Health Bury to show how to create tasty, simple meals using seasonal and fresh produce available from Bury’s award-winning market. They also used typical store cupboard goods such as rice, pulses, herbs and spices and ensured that everyone got their “five a day”.

The national Love Your Local Market is now in its second year, promoting local markets that have long been at the heart of the local community and are now having a revival.

The International Wine and Food Society (Manchester Branch) were taken on a guided tour of Bury Market and visited several stalls to taste the variety of food on offer.
