Green Gym needs you in fight against Himalayan invaders

All hands are needed in the battle against a plant invader which is strangling local bluebell woods.

Members of Chesham Fold Green Gym are trying to keep Himalayan balsam at bay, and are appealing to local residents to join them.

Volunteers are invited to two sessions - Sunday 23 June (meet at the Lido car park) and Sunday 30 June (meet on Chesham Road) - to help pull out the balsam from 1.30pm to 4pm.

The Green Gym is free and anyone over 18 is welcome to join. Some sessions are suitable for under-18s if accompanied by an adult.

The group meets at 1.30pm every Sunday and carries out conservation tasks such as dry stone walling, hedge laying, footpath repairs, woodland management, pond clearance and tree planting.

The Green Gym is organised by TCV and the Bury Accessible Natural Greenspace project, with funding fromthe Natural England Access to Nature programme (funded by the Big Lottery).
