It Asda be a good deal - why not switch?

Press release -

It Asda be a good deal - why not switch?

Officers from Bury Council will be at the ASDA supermarket store in Radcliffe this Thursday 24 January from 3.30pm until 6pm encouraging people sign up for Greater Manchester’s Fair Energy scheme.

The bulk buying initiative hopes to save thousands of residents across Greater Manchester money on their gas and electric bills by using ‘people power’ to get the energy companies to offer a
better deal to local consumers. A trial in Oldham has already seen those who signed up save around £170 per year on their bills. It costs nothing to do, and there’s no obligation to switch, so why wouldn’t
you?

More than 20,000 people have now signed up across the ten authorities, including one thousand in Bury. Officers who previously signed up people in the Mill Gate shopping centre on 9
January are hoping to catch a new audience by carrying out the activity in a different venue at a time more suited to people on their way home from work.

Council leader Cllr Mike Connolly said: “It’s important that people realise they don’t have to switch if they don’t get offered a better deal. We are out on the streets encouraging people to express their interest in getting a better price on their fuel bills to save money on household bills. We’re doing our best to get the message across to people that this gives them a real chance to reduce their costs. Many of the people I met when we went to the Mill Gate were worried about being in a contract with an existing supplier, our team can help answer all those questions.”
