It’ll soon be choccy time

The organisers of the award-winning Rambottom Chocolate Festival are gearing up to bring the best of UK cocoa to Ramsbottom for the biggest and best event so far.

The festival returns for its 5th year on 23 and 24 March with big names from around the UK attending alongside local heroes The Chocolate Café and Slattery’s.

With only five weeks to go, event organisers are keen to find out which type of chocolate people like best. So far milk chocolate is tops with 43% of voters stating this as their favourite. To join in and take the survey, visit www.ramsbottomchocolatefestival.com.

In the UK the main types of chocolate are white, milk, dark and extra dark and the key things that affect the flavour are the composition of the mixture, the origin of the cocoa beans, how the beans are treated or roasted and the types and amounts of additional ingredients.

Councillor Jane Lewis, cabinet member for leisure, tourism and culture, said: “Last year Ramsbottom Chocolate Festival attracted more than 20,000 visitors and won ‘Best small event’ in the Manchester Tourism Awards. Don’t miss out this year - we’re gearing up for an even bigger and better event with a two-day chocolate market, al fresco dining, a beer tent, ‘unplugged’ acoustic music sets, children’s craft sessions, a mini-farm and lots more.

“Organisers also have a few surprises to reveal along the way so make sure you get all the latest updates by subscribing to the festival blog at www.ramsbottomfestival.com or follow the festival on Twitter at twitter.com/ChocFestival.”
