Library helps knitters and jobseekers alike

Two new groups are being set up at South Cross Street Community Library to help support the local community.

The first is a weekly drop-in Work Club, meeting every Thursday between 2.30-4.30pm and starting on Thursday 22 November. The sessions will provide support and guidance for people searching for and applying for jobs online, preparing a CV, setting up an email account and general advice on looking for work. 

Work Clubs are available at other libraries (10am-noon):

  • Coronation Road Community Centre and Library - Tuesdays
  • Dumers LaneCommunity Centre and Library - Tuesdays
  • Topping Fold Community Centreand Library - Thursdays

Also, due to increasing popularity, a weekly knitting group is being set up with members of Bury Asian Women’s Centre starting on Friday 23 November and meeting every week from 10.30am to noon. 

Help will be given to inexperienced knitters, and while you can bring your own materials and project ideas, the centre does have some yarn and knitting needles available that have been donated.

  • Brandlesholme – Thursdays (1.30-3.30pm)
  • Coronation Road – Thursdays (10am-noon)
  • Dumers Lane– Wednesdays (10am-noon)
  • Moorside – Tuesdays (2-4pm)
  • Topping Fold – Wednesdays (5-7pm)
  • Whitefield – Tuesdays (10-11am)
  • Radcliffe - Thursdays (2-3pm)
