New ways to make Bury residents healthier

Leaders from the NHS, social care and public health sectors are now part of a new body, the Health and Wellbeing Board.

From 1 April, the board will formally become a statutory committee of Bury Council – and it will hold its first public meeting on Wednesday 24 April at Bury Town Hall, starting at 9am.

Chaired by a local GP, who is a member of Bury’s Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), the board includes Bury councillor Rishi Shori and partners from Health Watch, the council, the Community Safety Partnership, Bury  3rd Sector Development Agency and the CCG.

The board is responsible for drawing up and implementing strategies to improve the health and wellbeing of Bury residents.

Cllr Shori said: “The new Health and Wellbeing Board will provide an exciting new opportunity whereby the different public services can work together in a smarter and more co-ordinated way to ensure that Bury residents receive the best of health and social care.”
