Now Open in Bury Art Museum

The ever-popular Bury Art Society exhibition, Now Open, will open its doors to the public on 17 November from 10.30 – 12pm showcasing a rich variety of Bury Artists work with a hat-trick of events.

Founded in 1949 the society has a long history of working closely with the gallery to develop exhibitions which improve year on year.

Stephen Walton winner of Best Drawing in the National Exhibition of Wildlife Art will be holding his first solo show. Walton’s finely detailed charcoal drawings depict animals and birds often devoid of background focussing the eye on the beautiful shapes and patterns of nature. Working only from photographs Stephen has taken in a moment an idea is developed which can take month’s maybe years to create.

Bury Art Shop will also be launching Own Art, aimed at making buying art easy and affordable by letting buyers spread the cost of their purchase over 10 months with an interest free loan.Own Art loans are available for the purchase of contemporary art and craft of any kind, and in any media. That means people can choose more or less anything they want from paintings, prints, drawings and sculpture, to glassware, ceramics, jewellery, furniture and textiles. Borrow from as little as £100 up to a maximum of £2,000 for the purchase of works of art by living artists.

The exhibition will run until 2 Feb and the Stephen Walton exhibition will take place from 17 November to 23 February. The gallery is open Tuesday to Friday 10am to 5pm and Saturday 10am to 4.30pm.
