Save energy and money, thanks to Bury Market and CAB

Temperatures are dropping and fuel bills are going up, but Bury District CAB is doing its best to help hard-pressed residents.

Thanks to Big Lottery funding, the CAB has now been running a stall on Bury Market for 12 months, and has helped 1,450 people so far.

Staff and volunteers celebrated their first birthday on the market by holding an advice session during National Big Energy Saving Week to help people check they are on the best fuel deals and advise them how to lower their bills by using less energy and insulating their homes.

The Mayor of Bury, Councillor Joan Grimshaw, attended the event – and by happy co-incidence, it was her birthday that day too.

For information on how to cut fuel bills, see www.bigenergysavingweek.org.uk

To see if you are eligible for free home insulation, go to http://www.getmetoasty.com/

And for details about benefits, debt, housing and employment issues, visit www.adviceguide.org.uk

See the CAB at Bury Market every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Their stall is at Unit 16 in Margaret Block A.
