The Rocket Shoot for the Stars at the O2 Media Awards

The Rocket, a young Bury band supported by The Met and Edwin Street Recording Studio, were the invited guests to open the prestigious O2 Media Awards at the Lancashire Cricket Club last Thursday night with their self-penned track, Noah.

One of the chosen young bands to record at Edwin Street in the past 12 months, Ben Crocker (15), Laurie Southern (15) and Kieran Sproston (16), have already performed across the region at The Youth Sports Festival, the Torch Relay Stage, Edwin Street Showcase and at The Ramsbottom Festival. The very talented trio are still at school and cite diverse influences from The Cure, to Red Hot Chili Peppers, White Stripes, Blink 182 and Daft Punk.

David Agnew, Director of The Met comments, “We are really proud of the Recording Studio and support we are able to offer to young musicians who can demonstrate they are committed to improving on what they do.

“The Rocket being chosen to open the O2 Media Awards last night shows that Edwin Street is brilliantly placed to support the development of real talent and reap the rewards of a talented, inspired culture of young people.”

Opened last year by Craig Potter of Elbow, the Studio is a project between The Met and Bury Council. Edwin Street Recording Studio allows The Met to extend its work in supporting young and emerging talented artists and the chosen bands have already benefitted from free studio time at ESRS, working to each produce recordings of their original songs.
