Wise up to welfare benefit changes in Whitefield

Major changes in the benefits system will be explained at a special public meeting in Whitefield.

The meeting has been organised by the health sub-group of Whitefield and Unsworth Township Forum, to help people understand and be ready for the changes, which affect housing benefit, Job Seeker’s Allowance, Working Tax Credits, council tax benefit, Disability Living Allowance and tax credits.

The presentation is at Victoria Community and Youth Centre (New Jerusalem Church Hall) in Charles Street, Whitefield on Wednesday 17 April 2013. The event will start promptly at 10am and include a question and answer session. After the presentation, attendees will have the chance to speak to Six Town Housing, Contour, and staff from children’s centres and housing benefits.

Councillor Ken Audin, township forum chair, said: “This is an invaluable event for anyone that may be facing changes to their benefits or how they are paid. The staff will be there to answer questions and give out further information that might help. The event is free of charge, including refreshments. Everyone is very welcome.”
