Work starts on new riverside path for Chamberhall

Work is planned to start on the 14 January on the construction of a new £87,000 riverside path through Chamberhall Business Park.

The project is to be funded by the Department for Transport's Local Sustainable Transport Fund and forms part of a £32.5m Greater Manchester-wide programme to encourage more residents to walk or cycle to or for work.

The new path will become part of National Cycle Route 6 and provides an attractive route through Bury linking to Manchester City Centre in the south and to Ramsbottom in the north, via the new section of Kirklees Trail at Woolfold.

Councillor Gill Campbell, cabinet member for neighbourhoods and regeneration, said: “The new riverside path will really enhance the Chamberhall business park’s green credentials. The new path encourages local residents to look after their health and make low-carbon journeys through use of a bike or walking through this attractive park side setting.”
