    Bury Leisure are proud to announce that Castle Leisure Centre has been awarded IFI accreditation and officially acknowledged as a welcoming, inclusive fitness facility. IFI, the Inclusive Fitness Initiative, recognises commitment to provide services and facilities for disabled people and those with long term health conditions or additional needs.

  • Winter Service Team gear up for first cold snap

    Bury Council’s Winter Service Team is at the ready for the first cold snap and will be out at midnight tonight carrying out their first grit run. The first grit run of the season last year was on 5 November and the last was 5 months later on 5 April.The long winter of 2017/18 meant that the gritters were out treating the borough’s gritting routes twice as often as the previous year.

    Bury Leisure sports centres are offering local people the opportunity to give their winter workout a refresh and stay active and motivated by taking advantage of their vast range of fitness options. And throughout October there is the chance to take out a 6 month winter training membership for £169 or £29.50 per month.

  • Repairing Bury’s roads with a simple 4 step process

    Following successful trials and in a bid to tackle pot holes and improve the borough’s roads, Bury Council has invested almost £140k in new machinery for its Operations workforce. The new innovative spray injection patching machinery will help tackle potholes and worn surfaces more swiftly, at less cost and with less disruption to traffic.

  • Bury Archives - officially in the top 5% of UK services

    Bury Libraries + Archives has been awarded Archive Service Accreditation, the UK standard for archive services.” Throughout the UK there are 2,500 archives.141 archives have gained accreditation meaning that Bury has joined the top 5% of services to earn this prestigious award.

  • Hunt out your military memorabilia for TV roadshow

    ITV’s Granada Reports WW1 Roadshow will be rolling up at Bury’s famous market from 9am on Wednesday 17th October. To mark the 100th anniversary of the end of World War 1, Granada Reports reporter Paul Crone, a camera crew and a team of historical experts will be on hand as part of a special show to be televised on Granada Reports.
