Press release -
The Canon copier imageRUNNER 5000 Series has been replaced by the imageRUNNER Advance
It only seems like yesterday that Canon released the imageRUNNER 5000 black and white photocopier/printer, a multifunction printer that was one of the first to introduce high quality and high speed scanning, came with an impressive, highly intuitive user display and offered unusually broad media handling. But now, in what has to be Canon’s most prolific period in copier innovation to date, the company has decided to up its game yet another notch, releasing the stunning imageRUNNER Advance 6000 series. For those organisations looking for the very best in medium duty mono printing and now with colour scanning and a vast array of other improvements as standard, the Canon imageRUNNER Advance 6000 series will be the most obvious choice.
Canon imageRUNNER Advance
The imageRUNNER Advance 6000 Canon copier was announced earlier this year, ahead of the UK printing industry expo, IPEX, along with the imageRUNNER Advance 8000 Canon copier which was brought in to replace the iR 7000 series. They make up the second batch of Canon imageRUNNER Advance releases, following on from the Canon imageRUNNER Advance 9070 Pro which went on sale in September 2009 and the iR Advance 9060, which incidentally, has just been awarded with a highly prestigious EDP Award in the highly competitive multifunctional printing category.
All Canon imageRUNNER Advance models provide outstanding range benefits. They are the first machines in the industry to incorporate environmentally friendly bio-plastics into their design, both in the parts as well as the chassis and casing and they also introduce enhanced security features and greater user interface personalisation options.
Canon imageRUNNER Advance 6000 Vs Canon imageRUNNER 5000
But let’s move on to a more direct comparison between the new imageRUNNER Advance 6000 Canon photocopier and the outgoing imageRUNNER 5000 series.
The first thing that stands out in the much larger user display on the iR-ADV 6000 – the option of an 8.4" or 10.4" colour SVGA screen as compared with what, at the time, had seemed an ample 5.7" colour VGA screen on the iR 5000 Canon copier. Onto paper capacity and media handling. The iR-ADV 6000 Canon photocopier introduces paper accommodation of up to 256 gsm and has a bypass capacity of up to 100 sheets, as compared with 50 on the imageRUNNER 5000. As for scanning, one major advance – the imageRUNNER Advance 6000 introduces colour scanning, original paper weights of up to 228gsm, an impressive 300 sheet DADF capacity (compared with 100 sheets previously) and scanning speeds double the iR 5000’s at 200 ipm. There are improvements in connectivity too. The imageRUNNER Advance brings in iSend functionality, with high compression PDF and will also scan-to and print from USB memory. Advance Space design ensures the unit can remain highly compact whatever your finishing option configurations. Speaking of which, the imageRUNNER Advance 6000 series doesn’t disappoint – with an external booklet finisher, external staple finisher, external 2-hole punch and an external 2/4 punch.
While the Canon imageRUNNER 5000 is no longer available from Canon Copiers, the Canon Business Solutions Accredited Supplier is pleased to announce that it is now welcoming new enquiries for the stunning Canon imageRUNNER Advance 6000 series, which went on sale in the UK earlier this month.
