BEYOND 2020 – guiding the building sector on the UN 2030 agenda

PRESS RELEASE FROM:
CHALMERS UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY AND RISE, RESEARCH INSTITUTES OF SWEDEN

Gothenburg, Sweden, will be hosting BEYOND 2020, the World Sustainable Built Environment Conference, in June 2020. The mission of this large event is to engage the global building sector and set up a roadmap of actions as a guide on how to best contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The dialogue has already started on the web.

The World Sustainable Built Environment Conference is held every three years and is considered to be one of the world’s most important conferences and forums in the field of sustainable built environment. The next conference will be held in Gothenburg, Sweden, in June 2020, hosted by Chalmers University of Technology and RISE Research Institutes of Sweden in collaboration with Johanneberg Science Park and City of Gothenburg.

The mission of the conference is to link the global building sector to the UN Sustainable Development Goals and to define its role towards the achievement of 2030 objectives, by setting up a roadmap of actions that will guide the whole sector during the years between 2020 and 2030, and thus ‘beyond’ 2020.

"The conference is a unique opportunity for us to present Chalmers, Gothenburg and all of Sweden, and specifically our way of addressing issues related to sustainable built environment through projects taking shape here and now", says Holger Wallbaum, Professor in Sustainable Building and the conference owner.

Kristina Mjörnell, VP Sustainable Cities and Communities at RISE Research Institutes of Sweden, who will chair the conference organization committee together with Holger Wallbaum, adds:

"This world conference will give us the opportunity to show how RISE contributes to a sustainable built environment, with a multi-disciplinary perspective as research and innovation partner for industry, academia, SME and the public sector."

The BEYOND 2020 conference website is now launched
Chalmers University of Technology and RISE Research Institutes of Sweden are proud to announce the launch of the BEYOND 2020 conference website, nearly two years prior to the conference opening. Let the discussion on the web and in social media begin!

The website beyond2020.se gives an overview of the conference, from many different perspectives and with a strong focus on its core theme, the Sustainable Development Goals – most importantly SDG #11: Sustainable Cities and Communities. This website is the starting point of a journey towards quality discussions and knowledge sharing during an extremely rich range of session formats that will be offered at the actual conference.

Together with the related social media channels, this website also aims at being an exchange platform and a communication channel for those interested. BEYOND 2020 can indeed be found and followed on LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook and even on a dedicated Youtube channel. Additionally, all news and updates regarding the conference will be collected in the News area, with the possibility to preview them by signing up for a newsletter.

BEYOND 2020 opens up its doors to the world. Come and visit BEYOND 2020!
