Chic Teak Visit Suppliers In Japara

Robert Bowden, who is one of the key partners in the Chic Teak business, made the arduous trip over to the town of Japara via a flight to Dubai, followed by a stop in Jakarta before moving on again to Semarang. Chic Teak have had links with traders in the area since they started their operation over fifteen years ago, and Robert was delighted to meet up with five of his suppliers as well as study paperwork and tour the factory.

As well as discussing new design ideas for wood garden furniture, Robert was also able to garner some insight into how the teak trade is performing in Java and develop a new sales strategy, with news arriving that the government is likely to limit the felling of teak plantations from next year onwards.

“Robert was delighted to meet with some old and new acquaintances on his recent visit to the Japara area, and also had the pleasure of meeting some new breeds of bugs and insects!” says Sarah Bowden of Chic Teak. “Though the journey was long and exhausting, Robert feels the expedition was well worth the trouble and has come back with lots of ideas on how Chic Teak can grow and progress as a business. He also managed to squeeze in a visit to see his son, Charlie, play in an international inter-schools cricket tournament, coming runners up to an impressive New Zealand team.”
