InterContinental Amstel Amsterdam Hotel Protects Clients’ Information Using Clavister Gateway

Managed security gateway deployed as a service to deliver easy-to-manage enterprise security for hotel’s guest networks

Clavister (Nasdaq: CLAV), a leader in high-performance network security, has announced that the InterContinental Amstel Amsterdam, one of the Netherlands’ landmark hotels, has deployed the Clavister E7 security gateway to ensure client data is protected and to manage network bandwidth use.

The hotel is using the Clavister solution to secure network use and traffic in its six large event suites, to ensure that client data cannot be intercepted during private conferences. The solution also secures the hotel’s guest wireless network, and segregates it from network traffic in the conference suites.

With its advanced traffic-management capabilities, the Clavister gateway enables the hotel to provision and manage bandwidth between its conference centre and guest Wifi networks more effectively, ensuring that the needs of corporate clients and guests can be met.  The solution has been supplied and configured by Clavister’s Eindhoven-based gold partner, ICT Vision B.V., with a Security-as-a-Service licensing model, eliminating the need for upfront capital investment and enabling flexible provisioning of security features.

The Clavister solution is already delivering benefits to the hotel. Mik Visser, System Manager for the InterContinental Amstel Amsterdam Hotel, said: “The solution is particularly beneficial for clients using our conference suites, as it enables us to provision and balance bandwidth to suit our needs and those of our clients.  This is something that we were previously unable to do.  The Clavister solution was quick and easy to deploy, which is exactly what we were looking for.  It is reassuring that The Amstel now has strengthened levels of security across its wireless network and is protected from viruses and other internet attacks.”

The Clavister E7 delivers enterprise-grade security for mid-size deployments, and includes full NGFW features such as application control, user identity awareness, IPSec and SSL VPN, and content security services including IPS, IDS, web content filtering and anti-virus.  Clavister’s True Application Control service enables in-depth analysis and management of application content, helping to identify Skype IDs, SQL queries, Facebook chat text, VoIP call information and more.  Together with user identity awareness, this gives powerful, granular visibility and control over users’ access to applications across networks, enabling business-critical application usage to be prioritised and increasing overall business productivity.
