APPLE PAY COMING TO COSTA’S CUSTOMERS IN THE UK FROM LAUNCH

LONDON, UK – JUNE 09 2015 – Costa, the UK’s favourite coffee shop, will offer its customers the ability to pay with Apple Pay, which is transforming mobile payments with an easy, secure and private way to pay, when it launches in the UK.

Costa is committed to finding new and innovative ways to improve the customer experience. The launch of Apple Pay across the majority of Costa’s UK stores is providing an additional payment method that will help increase the speed of transactions. Apple Pay will particularly help Costa customers who are on the go and want to be served at speed, but also provide efficiencies for Costa team members when trying to ease congestion during busy periods at the point of purchase.

Security and privacy is at the core of Apple Pay. When you add a credit or debit card to Apple Pay, the actual card numbers are not stored on the device, nor on Apple servers. Instead, a unique Device Account Number is assigned, encrypted and securely stored in the Secure Element on your device and each transaction is authorised with a one-time unique dynamic security code.

Jon Fisher, Head of Mobile and Loyalty at Costa commented “At Costa we always put the customer at the heart of everything we do. We currently provide contactless payment across the majority of our UK stores, which is proving really popular, so offering Apple Pay will make our customer experience even more seamless whilst maintaining privacy and security.”

Apple Pay is easy to set up and users will continue to receive all of the rewards and benefits offered by credit and debit cards. In stores, Apple Pay works with iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and Apple Watch.
