Costa Coffee Club scoops two trophies at prestigious marketing awards

Last night, (21st May, 2013) Costa the UK’s favourite coffee shop, secured top honours at the Marketing Week Engage Awards, taking home two trophies for CRM/Loyalty and Data-driven Marketing.

Beating off tough competition from rival brands the judges described Costa’s innovative customer loyalty programme, Costa Coffee Club, as one that could be; “included in any masterclass on the subject”.

The coffee shop chain was voted Winner in the CRM/Loyalty category ahead of brands including Ikea, Llyods TSB and Virgin Media.  The judges praised Costa for their, “classic direct marketing done digitally”.  This approach led to increased customer spend and frequency; improved net promoter scores; higher email engagement rates and increased Facebook likes and comments.

Costa also successfully saw off competition from Asda.com, Homebase and Kleenex Balsam to be crowned Winner in the Data-Driven Marketing category for their tailored offers and rewards which clearly demonstrated high engagement and strong returns on investment.

Ben Cook, Retail Marketing Manager at Costa, said; “We’re delighted to win these awards and be recognised by the industry and our peers as leaders in the field of CRM.  We’re incredibly proud of the Costa Coffee Club, using it as tool to collect feedback from our customers as well as to reward them for their loyalty.  We are always looking to the future and have some exciting plans in the pipeline for the Coffee Club”
