Why Did DJI Create a 249-Gram Drone?

The all-new Mavic Mini is a transformative product for DJI and the entire drone industry. It is the most advanced drone of its size ever made, featuring many of DJI’s high-performance capabilities in a drone that weighs only 249 grams. Why did we work so hard to stuff as many features as we could into such a small package? It’s another example of DJI’s commitment to drone safety.

Regulators in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, continental Europe, Australia and other regions have agreed that drones weighing less than 250 grams (0.55 pounds) are virtually harmless. In a fall or a collision, a sub-250g drone is just not going to cause the same kind of damage as a heavier drone. Since they consider sub-250g drones to pose the lowest risks, they have made them subject to fewer restrictions or requirements than their heavier counterparts. The rules differ in each country, but in many places, a sub-250g drone may not require registration and may also be eligible for more complex operations, such as flying over people.

With this acquisition, the Polish Police joins the list of governments, special forces and other authorities around the world that trust in DJI products.

This Christmas #ShareTheJoy with Your Beloved Ones Through DJI

The end of the year is always a special time to gather with family and friends. But sometimes distances challenge us and it can happen that we find ourselves alone in a far away place on Earth. This year at DJI we suggest you surprise your dearest ones and #ShareTheJoy with them by connecting through your Osmo Mobile 3, with live broadcasting of your family and friends' dinner, or through Mavic Mini, with stunning footage of a nice Sunday afternoon in the park.

Check out our #ShareTheJoy story to find out how else you can give a surprising and warm message to that beloved one that can't be at your side this Christmas.

Photographer of Stars from Sinatra to The Beatles Was Loyal to Hasselblad

His dream was to become a jazz drummer. His strategy was to work as an air steward to be able to spend time in New York to attend jazz gigs on a regular basis to wait for this chance. However, things ended up in a different way for Terry O’Neill, who accidentally got hooked by photography without having even planned it and, ironically, working for an airline.

All along his career, O’Neill - who died in November 2019 - captured celebrities such as The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Audrey Hepburn, Brigitte Bardot, Sean Connery, Muhammad Ali, Elton John, Peter Sellers, David Bowie, Robert Redford, Frank Sinatra, Winston Churchill, Groucho Marx and many more.

When the subject was about camera choice, it was all Hasselblad for O’Neill. Up until his last days, he still had that old 500CM (he was a silver halide fanatic). “I love film, but I do shoot digitally when a client demands it,” he said. “I just know that medium format Hasselblad is the way to go at the high-end. I do believe that when image is everything, bigger really is better. I discovered I could tell more of a story in square capture format and for that reason my love affair with Hasselblad has never waned".

Terry O’Neill’s outstanding photos can be shared with your readers by directing them to the Hasselblad official website.
