ENERGY – sun, power and voltage

On 30 January 2009 the Experimentarium will be opening a new exhibition: ENERGY – sun, power and voltage

ENERGY is a big hands-on exhibition about energy consumption and production, about the climate and the future. The exhibition gives a tangible overview of the possibilities both we ourselves and technology can offer.‘ENERGY – sun, power and voltage’ came about in co-operation with DONG Energy.

Challenging entertainment

Energy and electricity are an essential part of our day-to-day life. But what can we ourselves do to limit our consumption – and can we even be bothered? In ENERGY you will see that saving can actually be fun, and that YOUR actions do also count. At the same time we challenge your own physical energy: for instance, try to keep your TV and stereo running by pedalling while you relax on the sofa. Launch a hydrogen rocket – after having used your muscles to make hydrogen, or put together your own ‘energy menu’ in the Lab Bar, where you can e.g. make power with a lemon battery.

Debate-provoking exhibition

The director of the Experimentarium, Asger Høeg, sees ENERGY as an important contribution to popular climate debate:“With its concrete approach to the subject, the exhibition gives children, young people and adults alike the opportunity to form their own opinion of a complex problem and actively participate in the climate and energy debate.”

Anders Eldrup, Managing Director of DONG Energy, also hopes the exhibition will give visitors food for thought:"Energy is everywhere in our day-to-day lives, and our collaboration with Experimentarium gives us a unique opportunity to demonstrate that in a way that is both fun and informative. We hope that all our inquisitive visitors will have some interesting experiences and get a good idea of how we best can take care of the environment when we produce power and heating."

Straightforward energy technology

Surveys show that young people in particular are very motivated by the future potential of technology, and we can be thankful that more research is being done into new, CO2-friendly technologies than ever before. ENERGY gives children, young people and adults alike the opportunity to put their finger on the pulse of power technology progress: what are the different technologies good for, and what are their limitations? Try it out for yourself.

ENERGY – sun, power and voltage does not solve the world’s energy problems, but the exhibition shows that ENERGY can definitely be a tangible – and touch-worthy – subject.
