29 Accumulator Challenge teams have raised more than £26,000 in just four months...

ellenor’s exciting Accumulator Challenge, a competitive fundraiser for organisations has raised £26,305; with Broadditch Farm named as the 2018 winner. This figure could pay for over 844 hours of Play Therapy or over 54 days of care on ellenor’s Inpatient Ward, Gravesend.

29 teams across Kent took part in ellenor’s Accumulator Challenge. Each company was given a crisp £50 note, generously donated by Thomson Snell & Passmore, which they then had four months to grow into as much as possible to support families facing terminal illness. The challenge offers the opportunity for businesses to be as creative as possible by investing a small amount of money in a variety of fundraising and money making activities to generate funds for ellenor.

An awards ceremony was held on Wednesday 13 February at ellenor, Gravesend.

Broadditch Farm Shop really got into the competitive spirit and won the ‘Most Raised Award’. They ran a range of fundraising activities at their Halloween and Christmas events raising an incredible £3,037.

Lindsey Lucas, Broadditch Advertising and Marketing Manager said: “Broadditch are very proud to have taken part in ellenor’s 2018 Accumulator Challenge and we are thrilled to have won the challenge by raising over £3,000. We are lucky to have such wonderful customers at the farm shop that support ellenor throughout the year and visitors to our seasonal events makes fundraising for such a worthy local charity relatively easy for us. Like many of us at Broadditch, many of our customers have been helped through difficult times by ellenor and we are more than happy to help us raise money for them”.

The winner of the ‘Most Creative Award’ was Make a Difference Fitness. Not only did they create and sell a calendar featuring all of their gym instructors posing as models for the month, but they also organised a fantastic Christmas sponsored run raising an impressive £1,460.

Dartford Science and Technology College was given the ‘Community Engagement Award’, which recognised a company which really got behind the challenge and had a high level of engagement with its staff and the local community. They created a Cook Book which included recipes from across the Dartford community and were also featured as the Dartford Gossip Page’s Charity of the Month.

Since its inception in 2016, over 72 companies have taken part and collectively raised more than £52,025. We are very grateful to each of the 29 organisations that took part in the Accumulator Challenge, there were some fantastic fundraising activities across the four months.”

We are launching our next Accumulator Challenge on 1 September 2019 and hoping more companies will join up and raise more this year. It is a fantastic opportunity for local businesses to support their local hospice and help us to continue providing vital support to local families facing terminal illness.” Kate Barnes, ellenor Fundraising Manager.
