Celebrity support as record numbers turn out for Twilight Walk!

The Wanted’s Tom Parker was at the starting line to cheer on a record number of walkers taking on our annual sponsored Twilight Walk which was back for it’s seventh year.

Over 520 walkers gathered at the Cyclopark Gravesend on Friday 18 September to take on our annual sponsored Twilight Walk.

Singing sensation Tom, who enjoyed success with the platinum-selling boy band joined in the warm up and posed for pictures with walkers, alongside his long-term girlfriend actress Kelsey Hardwick.

Walkers started with a Zumba warm-up before heading out into Gravesend for a fun-filled walk, with ice cream, chips and other treats along the route. The 8km route started with one loop round the Cyclopark, before heading out through Gravesend, with the choice of a 12km route which was new for this year and proved really popular with walkers.

This year saw record numbers register, and is set to exceed its target raising over £35,000 to provide care for local families facing terminal illness.

Many walkers took part in memory of loved ones that have been cared for by the charity and customised their Twilight Walk T-shirts with the names and pictures of those they were walking for.

Events Manager Hayley Brown said: “We are so grateful to all our fabulous walkers who turned out to walk with us for families that urgently need our care.It was really moving to see such a huge crowd of orange shirts and to know that so many were there because of a personal experience of our care. Big thanks go to our hosts the Cyclopark, our sponsor Esquire Developments, our team of volunteers and the residents of Gravesend.
