First Masonic Summer Ball with a musical theme goes with a swing

Gravesend Masonic Hall, held their first ever Summer Ball on Saturday 11 July to raise funds for ellenor after being inspired by meeting the ellenor nursing team.  The event, which had a musical theme, was a 'swinging' success and raised in excess of £800 for ellenor.

The 16 masonic lodges which meet at the Gravesend Masonic Hall have for many years individually made generous donations to ellenor, but were inspired to put on the event after Company Secretary, Tony Lewis, (pictured above, far left) met with the nursing team at ellenor to hand over donations made by the Grand charity of the United Grand Lodge of England.

Tony, who was able to see first hand how donations of this sort provide valuable support and care for the many families of North West Kent, said "after meeting the team at ellenor and witnessing the superb job they do, the Board of the Gravesend Masonic Hall Company readily agreed to lend their support for the work of ellenor."

Hannah Hills, Hall Manager at the Masonic Hall, organised the entertainment and ticket sales, with  guests enjoying a sparkling reception and a four course meal topped off with lots of dancing to the sounds of Midnight Boulevard.  The entertainment included a salute to the 1940’s with music from Glenn Miller and other eras which went right through to the present day.

Nearly 70 people attended the evening which raised in excess of £800 for ellenor.

Tony says "Our aim is to do bigger and better next year!"
