Nokia C5 5MP – A Well Built Budget Phone With Plenty of Features

The Nokia C5 5MP is an example of a budget phone that does its best to give you the most for your money. It doesn't have everything, but what it has is of great quality. Its exterior design, great user interface, and relatively speedy internet make it definitely worth consideration. Read on to learn more.

When it comes to looks, it's not the flashiest or most sophisticated looking phone on the market, but it's not bad looking either. At 89g, it's incredibly light and insanely slim. Its 2.2 inch TFT screen is sort of small, but its high resolution and sixteen million colours makes it easy to read. Its best feature by far, however, is its alphanumeric keyboard. Its soft, large keys make texting a dream.

Its interface is surprisingly well designed too. All too often we discover budget phones with glitchy, over complicated navigation systems. However, the C5 5MP proves itself capable of producing a user interface that is simple and straightforward. Those who like their phones without the bells and whistles of high end smartphones will enjoy its array of simple menus and icons. It's also quite reliable, with no instances of freezing up.

We were also quite impressed with its music features. Along with a 3.5 mm headphone jack, you also get a set of stereo speakers, an FM radio RDS, and there are a slew of mp3 ringtones available. Its universal headphone jack also allows you to use your own set of headphones instead of the ones that come in the box. This is a must for any phone, and we find all too tragically that many budget phones leave out this essential feature. We were very pleased to find it here.

Its five megapixel camera is well equipped, featuring a LED flash, fixed focus, and a video recorder that captures up to 15fps. There is also an option that lets you tweak your photos. Photos will turn out in relatively decent quality thanks to the high megapixels and strong flash. We would have liked to see autofocus instead of fixed focus, but overall we can't complain with the quality of the photos or videos.

The mobile's internet related features are fairly well rounded as well. There's no wi-fi, alas, but you do get Bluetooth, 3G, HDSPA, HSUPA, and plenty of other options. If you're someone who needs to have the option to connect on the go constantly, the lack of wi-fi may be a disappointment, but for the most part we were pleased with the options available. Combine that with a speedy browser, a document viewer, GPS, Ovi Maps, and more, and you have a fairly reliable phone.

This mobile phone's memory isn't the best—it has 270MB, but you can boost that to up to 32GB with a microSD card. Its battery life consists of eleven hours of talk time and 600 hours of talktime, which means you can go a long time without having to charge.
