In 2017, Engcon formed and rolled-out its North America company, Engcon North America Inc. with sales offices and warehouses established in Connecticut. Following a steady increase in sales throughout all of North America, Engcon is now taking the next natural step - and starting up operations in Canada.
Engcon’s EC226, the second largest tiltrotator for excavators in the 19-26 tonne weight class, now has a more powerful lifting hook that is approved for 8 tons, according to EN 474-1: 2006 + A6: 2019 ANNEX E. The upgrade applies to the directly attached tiltrotators.
In 2020 the collaboration started with Engcon's eML (engcon Machine Link) and Volvo Smart Connect. This resulted in the first compatible machines, an updated EC250 E and EC300 E reaching the Engcon workshops and Volvo, with customer delivery due in the first quarter 2021. The project is the start of a global collaboration agreement between Volvo Construction Equipment and Engcon.
Every year the regent of Sweden H.M. King Carl XVI Gustaf decides on the medal award for H.M. the King´s medal. This year, Engcon's founder and owner Stig Engström was awarded with “H.M. The King's Medal of the 12th size with a bright blue ribbon” for his significant contributions within Swedish industry.
With its 17 tons and a raw power engine of 255 horsepower, the Euromach R145 can call itself the world's largest spider excavator. Able to perform all conceivable functions from one and the same position whilst climbing steep terrain. And to help improve efficiency, it has now been equipped with an Engcon tiltrotator.
Engcon announces additional smart features on the tiltrotators' quick hitch. Previously it had been adapted for installation of the detachable GRD grab cassette and SWD rotating sweeper. Now nearly all the hoses in the quick hitch under the tiltrotator is replaced with a simple modular system. The hose-free design reduces wear and maintenance needs, and adding more hydraulic functions.
Engcon has invested significantly in a brand-new office building, covering an area of over 400 square metres, spread over two floors. The new building connects with the existing production facilities located at the Swedish head office in Strömsund. The investment is part of a long-term strategy to create the right conditions for continued expansion.

Engcon UK and Hitachi Construction Machinery UK (HCMUK) has announced a new partnership to supply and fit their range of tiltrotators at HCMUK’s state-of-the-art preparation centre in the North East.
From 1st October 2020, Engcon will offer the Quick hitch Standard Control (QSC) its safe locking system as standard on all tiltrotators with Engcon's control system. In short, the current system for controlling the bucket lock under the tiltrotator is being replaced by Engcon's standardised locking panel.
Despite challenging market conditions, interest in Engcon's products in North America continues to grow. Enquiries increased after a very successful participation at Conexpo, this year's largest trade show held in Las Vegas. The pace of growth means that Engcon N A has had to move to new, larger premises better adapted to meet the demands of the business with a larger warehouse.
The effects of Covid-19 are not over yet, but this summer's sales figures have provided Engcon with a positive outlook. The unexpected increase in sales during the months of June and July mean that Engcon is now overseeing extra efforts to produce and fulfil the delivery of additional orders.
