England Women head into semi-finals with New Zealand win

England Women 172-2 beat New Zealand Women 168 by eight wickets

England Women signed off from the group stages of the ICC Women's World Cup with a resounding eight-wicket win over New Zealand in Visakhapatnam.

New Zealand batted first but struggled to get going, nobody passing 43 in an innings that saw England forced to use seven bowlers after Sophie Ecclestone left the field with an injury to her left shoulder.

Linsey Smith took 3-30, and Nat Sciver-Brunt and Alice Capsey two wickets apiece, as the White Ferns were bowled out for 168 in the 39th over.

In reply, Tammy Beaumont (40) and Player of the Match Amy Jones (86*) made a solid start, before Jones put on a further 83 for the second wicket with Heather Knight.

Jones was unbeaten at the close, alongside Danni Wyatt-Hodge, who had been recalled to the side in place of Emma Lamb.

The win means England finish second in the group standings, with five wins, one loss and one no result from their seven games, with South Africa awaiting in Wednesday's semi-final in Guwahati.
