Press release -

England Women lose to West Indies in Dunedin

West Indies Women 225-6 beat England Women 216 by 7 runs

England Women fell to another narrow defeat in their second ICC Women's World Cup match, losing to West Indies by 7 runs in Dunedin.

In a topsy-turvy encounter, Heather Knight's side were indebted to Sophie Ecclestone - with both bat and ball - and the young left-arm spinner nearly won it for her team after a fine ninth-wicket partnership of 61 with Thunder and Manchester Originals teammate Kate Cross.

Up until the point Cross was run-out backing up it looked as if the pair would help England limp over the line, but Anisa Mohammed sealed the West Indies' second win of the competition.

West Indies had earlier exploited an under-par performance in the field to post 225-6, despite Ecclestone's 3-20.

England now travel to Mount Maunganui to play South Africa and India knowing they can't afford another slip-up.

Please find below video and audio files of Heather Knight's post-match press conference available to use. You cannot publish video on Twitter. Please credit ICC. https://we.tl/t-0JU8xmJIvC
