Press release -
India Women win the Metro Bank ODI Series 2-1
India Women (318-5) beat England Women (305ao) by 13 runs.
India Women secured a 13-run win over England at Banks Homes Riverside in Chester-le-Street to take the ODI series 2–1.
England made a slow start with the ball after India chose to bat first.
It was the switch up in pace from the home side's bowling attack that applied fruitful pressure, dismissing India's batters.
Sophie Ecclestone was first to strike as Pratika Rawal fell for 26. Charlie Dean (1-69) then removed the dangerous Smriti Mandhana (45) thanks to a sharp catch from Sophia Dunkley.
India rebuilt through captain Harmanpreet Kaur, who accelerated the innings with a composed 102. She was supported by Harleen Deol (45) and Jemimah Rodrigues (50), guiding India to a strong total of 318.
England’s reply faltered early with Tammy Beaumont (2) and Amy Jones (4) both dismissed cheaply. A 150-run stand between Emma Lamb (68) and captain Nat Sciver-Brunt (98) brought England back into the contest.
But after Dunkley (34) was run out following a mix-up in the middle, the innings began to unravel. Alice Davidson-Richards added a quick 44, but the hosts were bowled out for 305 in the final over.
The international summer now over, the teams will next face each other on India's home soil for the ICC Women's World Cup from September later this year.
