South Africa defeat England in ICC Women's World Cup semi-final

South Africa Women 319-7 beat England Women 194 by 125 runs

England Women's ICC Women's World Cup tournament came to an end at the semi-final stage at the hands of South Africa.

Laura Wolvaardt made a majestic 169 for her team to set an imposing 319-7, a target that England never threatened to reach.

They fell initially to 1-3, before being bowled out for 194, captain Nat Sciver-Brunt and Alice Capsey putting on 100 for the fourth wicket. Marizanne Kapp took 5-20.

Sophie Ecclestone had earlier belied her shoulder injury to take 4-44 in a topsy turvy South Africa innings. On a good track, with 10 overs to go, England would have had hopes of keeping South Africa under 300 but Wolvaardt had other ideas, adding over 100 in the final 10 alongside Chloe Tryon.

With Sciver-Brunt and Capsey together at the crease, England almost began to think the chase could potentially be do-able but when they were parted the end came fairly swiftly for Sciver-Brunt's team, despite some late resistance from Danni Wyatt-Hodge and Linsey Smith.

South Africa will travel to Mumbai for Sunday's final, where they'll face either Australia or hosts India.
