West Indies Men U19s win series against Young Lions
An unbeaten century from captain Joshua Dorne steered West Indies Men U19s to a series-clinching win over England Men U19s in the sixth Youth ODI in Grenada.
Dorne struck 102 from 101 balls – the first hundred of the series - to help his side to a four-wicket win after the Young Lions were bowled out for 221.
Farhan Ahmed top scored for the tourists with 54, while opener Isaac Mohammed added 45. Jonathan van Lange did the damage with four for 17.
The Young Lions fought hard with the ball as first Durham left-armer James Minto claimed two wickets in the second over of West Indies’ reply. Wicketkeeper Joe Moores, who has earlier hit 42, took a running catch from a skied Zachary Carter pull shot before holding a regulation edge to remove Tanez Francis.
When Manny Lumsden removed the dangerous Van Lange for a first-ball duck, edging a drive to give Moores his fourth catch, the hosts were 89 for five.
But from there Dorne took charge as he shared a 92-run partnership with Matthew Miller who was run out for 43. Dorne reached his century from 94 balls, when he pulled Minto to the midwicket rope, as his side reached their target with 71 balls remaining.
The final match of the series, which has provided preparation ahead of the 2026 ICC Men’s U19s World Cup in January, will be staged at the National Stadium in St George’s on Monday.
