Whilst being towed from the Norwegian sector, the accommodation platform, West Gamma, was hit by a violent storm on the 20th of August 1990.
On the night of the 21st of August 1990, ESVAGT rescued 46 people from the capsized accommodation platform, West Gamma. An operation that proved to be pivotal for ESVAGT.
The rescue of the crew of the West Gamma is one of ESVAGT’s finest hours. These are the experiences of four key people from that August night 25 years ago.
The successful rescue operation brought ESVAGT acclaim throughout the entire North Sea. It was one of the reasons why ESVAGT was awarded the Leith International Conference’s Offshore Safety Award i 1991, and to this day the operation is close to the heart of not just ESVAGT but to the branch in general and in Norway in particular.
Status: ESVAGT has taken delivery of its last ship for now from the ASL Shipyard in Singapore.

On Easter Monday 2015, ESVAGT hosted an open vessel arrangement where all employees and their families were invited to visit the new SOV vessel, the ‘Esvagt Faraday’, which was moored just outside the company headquarters in Esbjerg.
ESVAGT’s two new SOVs are now in operation. Experienced crew chosen to establish working procedures on a completely new vessel in a market that is almost as new.
ESVAGT’s two SOVs have been named after two of English industrial history’s notable personalities. Both men also had a connection with the Siemens brothers.
The elite soldiers of the Danish Navy Frogman Corps have been training on installations in the North Sea. The ‘Esvagt Kappa’ played its part with a Fast Rescue Boat and as host.
