A simpler organisation

Press release -

A simpler organisation

ESVAGT has re-designed the organisation to increase efficiency and ensure continued optimized services.

In recent years ESVAGT has seen considerable growth and is today a shipping company with 37 vessels and 775 employees offshore and onshore. In order to ensure that the increased activities are constantly run optimally, the company has now implemented a change in its organisational structure.

- For quite some time we have been considering how we could make sure that we run our business in an effective and safe way at all times, says Søren Nørgaard Thomsen, CEO in ESVAGT.

From 1 October 2013 ESVAGT implemented a somewhat simpler organisational structure where functions that naturally go together were put together, and where it should preferably be clearer who is in charge of what.

The big changes:

  • The daily operations of the vessels will be put together in one department - Ship Management. It will consist of the functions that we know today as Operations and Technique. Bjørn Viig will continue to be in charge of the technical aspects, and Steffen Rudbech Nielsen has come back to ESVAGT and will be the head of the operational aspects. Both of them will report to Kristian O. Jakobsen, who will be given the title of Chief Operating Officer (COO) from now on.
  • All commercial matters and HSEQ will also be put together in one department - Commercial & Safety. Chartering will go on without any changes from what it is today with Ib Hansen as the daily manager. Ib will from now on report to Ole Ditlev Nielsen, but Ib will still be part of the management in ESVAGT. Ole Ditlev will moreover get the chief responsibility for the HSEQ department, which will have Jesper Møhring Madsen as the manager. Ole Ditlev’s title will from now on be Chief Commercial & Safety Officer (CCO).
  • We will also put all staff related matters together – both for people working offshore and onshore – in one department: Crewing. Nick Vejlgaard Ørskov, who has been in charge of HR and personnel, will from now on be the manager of the crewing department.
  • Finally we chose to prioritize the area around the development of new types of vessels. With the increased activities in the offshore wind market we need a more targeted effort to ensure that we reach the goals in the new development projects. Therefore we have chosen to release Bjarne Mikkelsen from the responsibility of the workshop and made him head of the department Special Services, where the main area is development and production of vessels (FRB and STB) for both ERRV – and the wind turbine farms. A new position as Service Manager in the workshop with responsibility for service and support for vessels in operation will soon be posted. Both positions will report to Kristian O. Jakobsen.
  • The functions in the department Finance will continue unchanged under Bjarne Poulsen, Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
