‘Esvagt Don’ in a drilling campaign at the Faroe Islands

Statoil Norway looking for oil in an area with potential

‘Esvagt Don’ is going to stop its work for Talisman on 2 April but will later on in April continue on a new task for Statoil Norway, which will soon commence a drilling campaign near the Faroe Islands.

- This is an area where there should be considerable opportunities for great finds, says Ib Hansen, Head of Commercial in ESVAGT:

- Statoil has formerly been looking in the area – and so have Hess, BP and a number of others. Some of them have found something, but not sufficient to declare it commercial attractive. Now Statoil will make a new attempt. We are not far away from Foinaven and Schiehallion, which are two large fields operated by BP near the Shetland Islands, so we believe it is very likely that finds can be made that can lead to an actual production in the area, he says.

‘Esvagt Don’ is going to work with standby and first oil spill preparedness on a 5-month contract that P/F ESVAGT-Thor has entered with Statoil Norway.
