Press release -

ESVAGT plants 1,047 trees

All employees at ESVAGT are involved, when the campaign “Denmark plants trees” (“Danmark planter træer”) makes a concrete difference for the climate. ESVAGT donates 20,940 DKK to the fundraising campaign; enough to plant a tree for each of the shipping company’s 1,047 employees.

‘ESVAGT is an active part of the green transition. We work on minimising our carbon footprint each day and are happy to support an initiative that contributes to getting CO2 out of the atmosphere’, says CEO Peter Lytzen, ESVAGT.

ESVAGT has been able to reduce its fuel consumption considerably by optimising equipment, new innovative solutions and energy energy efficient concepts:

‘Nowadays, there is a clear expectation from the client’s side for providers to not only offer a safe, competent and efficient operation, but also to operate sensibly seen from an environmental point of view. There is a growing demand and receptiveness on environmental and operation-optimising initiatives, and common environmental improvements have a strong presence in our dialogue with clients. It is a development that we welcome’, says Peter Lytzen.

ESVAGT’s environmental initiatives cover a whole range of areas. It can be technical solutions such as use of energy-efficient propulsion azimuths; it can be training in environmental-oriented behaviour with a focus on fuel optimisation - and it can be newly developed concepts, which set the standard for an environmentally-efficient operation.

‘ESVAGT’s unique SOV concept for servicing offshore wind farms excels in many areas, especially by being far more fuel economical than alternative concepts. For example, we use transfer boats to move technicians and equipment to the wind turbines, and our daughter craft STB 12 saves the mother vessel from many fuel-demanding trips to port. At the same time, the concept renders crew transfer boats superfluous, which in turn saves additional fuel’, says Peter Lytzen.

Through dialogue with clients, ESVAGT pinpoints the solutions that contribute to a greener operation. For example, behavioural changes, guidelines, better planning of activities on the field and sailing routes from activities in the North Sea to land have contributed to reduce fuel consumption with up to 50 per cent, which have both an environmental and financial aspect.

The fundraising show will air on TV2 on Saturday at 19:30.
