The Swedish King and deputy Prime Minister visit China
The journey starts in Beijing, May 19-22, with meetings with the Chinese government and participation in a high-level Sino-Swedish innovation forum. The purpose is, among other things, to strengthen the cooperation with China with regards to innovation, environmental solutions and questions about entrepreneurship and CSR. Another purpose is to highlight the 60 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Deputy Prime Minister Maud Olofsson will hold an opening speech at the international women’s conference Global Summit of Women, which gathers female political leaders from all parts of the world. This time the focus will be out on female entrepreneurship.
May 22-24, His Majesty the King and deputy Prime Minister will visit the World Expo in Shanghai, and take part in a round table discussion with Swedish and chinese enterprises. They will also to take part in a large forum focusing on innovation and growth, held by Vinnova. The theme for the Swedish participation in the Expo is “Spirit of Innovation”.
Accompanying His Majesty and Ms. Olofsson is a business delegation with high-level representatives from some of the largest companies in Sweden. Of all Asian countries, China is the most important trade partner for Sweden, and the purpose with the delegation is to enhance the business cooperation and create new business opportunities.

The World Exposition in Shanghai lasts between May 1 and October 31 2010. It is estimated to be the largest World Expo ever with over 200 participating countries and organizations and 70 million visitors - mainly from China. Sweden participates with a pavilion of its own financed equally by government and business. At the Swedish pavilion the visitors will meet up with Swedish Spirit of Innovation through games and examples luring them to communication, participation and engagement to the benefit of both man and nature.
